Wound Care

Daily packing and dressing changes — gentle, clean, and consistent.

Good news
No blood present as of April 21 morning — a positive sign.

Current status

  • Incision was partially reopened on April 21 to drain old blood (hematoma).
  • Tunneling noted at three points; depth is monitored at each visit.
  • Wound is measured at clinic visits to track healing.

Daily care

  • Wound is packed with gauze daily.
  • Caregiver changes dressings and is the day-to-day judge of how the wound looks.
  • Wash hands thoroughly before and after every dressing change.
  • Note any changes in color, smell, or amount of drainage and report them.
Call the team if…
You see new bleeding, foul smell, increased drainage, or signs of infection (redness, warmth, fever).
